I have a bit of a crisis at the moment. I love the Dedes dearly, but they seem so carefree and fun loving. Life isn’t always a laugh, isn’t it? So, I thought I show some of my other work for a change. This one is from 2015 and is called Safely trapped. Each of the panels is 140mm by 140mm and acrylic, nails and chicken wire painted with nail polish on MDF. The top one is a close up of the bottom one. I am currently working on a bigger piece, reflecting what I read about Europe.
Somehow creepy. But I like it!
Very interesting feedback. What makes it creepy for you?
It looks a little bit like spikes and blood trails to me. It reminds me of that torture museum in Rothenburg, Germany. Maybe I’m just morbid :)
You are right: I choose the red to insinuate pain, as I consider injury a life. Who is the morbid now :)
And it’s all played out against that stark, almost existentialist background. Ok, your turn to out-morbid me.
Let’s call it a stalemate :)
Not creepy, very tactile, interesting. Would love to see in progress pictures of your new work.
Tactile – yes, you’ve hit the nail on the head :). This is the underlying motive. Once again I will have to make a post out of that.
Hit the nail on the head!….. I love it!
