This is another shot from the opening. I love these two. They look like they have been playing together forever. But no, it was an impromptu performance. The man on the left is Fred and the little guy is one of John Rew’s puppets. The hand at the top belongs to John. I will have to write about him another time. He did these amazing puppet circus performances on the day. He is such a diehard puppeteer… While on break from the circus performances his puppets still mingled with the audience.
Great picture – you get the atmosphere. Wish I had been there. Tony
Thanks. Yes, maybe in two years…
The P&J puppet booth arrives tomorrow, I built the frame and am having it professionally covered with candy stripe canvas. All the characters are now built, time to paint a proscenium arch – this is exciting. Maybe we’ll get to meet up in due course.Tony
I certainly hope you are making a film in the meantime. :)
Thanks, I am keeping a photographic diary and a notebook of fabrics, etc, when the thing is complete I shall try making a film. Thanks for the comment! Tony
Looks like you are participating in a new puppet renaissance in your area. As friends of mine have told me…one door in life may close, but another is sure to open. Seems that this has been true for you!
Oh yes, you are so right. The last eight month have been an interesting transitional phase. Transitions are always introverted for me, but knowing myself I expect to be out skipping and singing again soon.
