Hurrah, the Dedes are happy again. Yesterday we had some people around for another workshop. The highlight was the visit by their old mate Punch too. (He was one of the puppets who found a new home at the exhibition.) Unlike the first workshop, we had no idea where the story would take us this time. In the previous workshop we had a theme: we knew from the outset, that one of the Dedes will recite a Dada poem, and we had a long discussion about the sense and nonsense of Dada poems. Yesterday we started with an blank canvas (except for the few puppets who had held their hands up to take part. They were eagerly waiting on stage to get started). Of course when Punch too entered the room, he jumped straight onto the stage and wanted to play with his old mates. He has a different dress and you will know who he is, when you watch the video. The final piece ended up to be more Dada than the previous one….
I absolutely loved the process. As usual, when you don’t have anything to go by, it was a sluggish start. To kick-start I asked everyone to say one word that popped into their mind without thinking. But of course Rob D Light with his hankerchief across his face was hanging out on stage waiting for the filming to start and it wasn’t a surprise that we very quickly agreed to set the scene in a bank. From there on there was no holding back. In the end we were laughing so much I even forgot to take images or I wasn’t looking carefully and had all sort of human body parts in the pictures. I couldn’t use a good chunk of the footage. This will teach me a lesson.
I am not directing during workshops at all, and the storyline is entirely driven by the participants. I am just an observer and what I see flows into post-production. The session yesterday was three hours and with easing in and post mortem, there is not enough time to finish everything. So I completed the film this morning.
Thanks to everbody who helped making this flash drama and I hope the final product finds your approval.
Enjoy our master piece, we certainly enjoyed making it!
Oh Deitlind and Dede Cast and Crew, What a wonderful funderful day that was. A tremendous first experience for me and Punch too (or should that be Punch too too)? He lounged on my dashboard on the way home in the car, his eyes sparkled, our hearts raced, but we barely spoke. It was love. Later that day I found him with scissors and paper cutting out a star which he no doubts intends to put on his dressing room door. I guess a Dede does need a dressing room, so we are collaborating with each other on that today. I think the whole experience left me quite emotional as I found myself crying at the museum yesterday over a displaced piece of rock! The film is tremendous although I notice it isn’t yet classified, and as it contains nudity ……well ……you get my gist. we are both looking forward to your next Dede enterprise and keen as chips to participate.
Thank you s0 much Arlo and Punch too, too! It was great to have you here. The Dedes are still talking about Punch too and what a wonderful new home he has found. They all want to go out and find new homes now… But I think this phase will pass. They are a very fickle lot and the also love film making and so the will stay with me :). They are now talking about a series called A Dede Day @…
And of course we would love to have you back for the next installment.
We had a discussion here, whether it was true that Nosy Neigbour spend quality time in the cafe with Punch too, or was he only dreamin’ it? Someone suggested we should show what really happened: In reality Nosy Neigbour ran to the rest room and bawled his eyes out.
Ah and do you know what just happend. Devil came out of the cup board to ask for some scissors and gold paper. Wonder what this is supposed to mean.
Hmmmmm. Let me think. ‘Punch too’ shot straight through, grabbed a camera and started re-arranging soft furnishings. More on this later. He now tells me he has also adopted a stage name, Han de Vere. What next! Monogrammed bath towels!
Do you think maybe Nosy Neighbour was suffering from an attack of the Dede T’s? Alcohol problem? Suppressed ( not yet out of the closet ). That was quite a friendly reception at the cafe! Han was quite taken aback but as it was his first acting role he just went with the flow.
No, Han doesn’t have to worry. Nosy Neighbour was just happy to see a long lost friend, who doesn’t know what he is going through in his day job. He was sincerely happy to see Punch too or Han as he calls himself now.
And a friendly advice to you: Keep your Dede in check, if you give them too much rope they start walking all over you. So make sure Han de Vere stays grounded. No monogrammed bath towels, not even as a Christmas present!
