A very nice side effect of this book project is: my skeletons seem to have moved on. I always thought I am good friends with my skeletons, but now that they are gone, I don’t miss them much.
It’s Friday again and looking back at the week it wasn’t a particularly successful one. I’ve set out to do all these things and I ended up with half finished jobs, jobs not started, as well as having done things that needn’t to be done this week and also dealt with stuff originally not anticipated. To cut a long story short, my to do list hasn’t changed much since Monday, but I haven’t been idle this week either. I guess that’s life.
Today I have four things to finish on my to do list and I hope I will have completed them by tonight. So, let’s not procrastinate further and get on with it.
I am getting increasingly nervous about Thursday and the book launch. The printed books should have arrived today, I’ve just heard, the bookbinder hasn’t finished them yet. They are now promised for Wednesday. This is a bit of stress I don’t really need. I am trying to work through all the other items on the list in the meantime. And put some calming images up on the blog for now…
This is an image from my Memory Pictures Series: When I bought my macro lens, I started to photograph some rather tatty looking mementos I kept for donkey’s years in a box in the spare room. The idea was to finally part with the real objects. I guess this work has helped to move on a few skeletons, though the items are still in the box.
This particular one was an oil lamp, hand-crafted by a very very dear, but of course, long lost friend. I don’t have the urge to rub the lamp, I know the Genie has gone forever. In all the images one can see the settled dust.
The book launch is exactly one week away now.
Last night I worked on even more new puppets. I really shouldn’t… there is still so much other stuff to do… I haven’t even build the puppet theatre yet! It’s only in my mind. I wonder if I will start freaking out at one stage (that might not be a pretty sight for the people around me!). I haven’t asked for RSVP on the invitation, so I have no idea how many people will come. I have heard from a few people who won’t be able to make it, though.

I had a character in mind, when I created this dede. But when I discussed the puppet with a friend, we couldn’t even agree whether it is a male or a female character, so I thought it might be a nice idea to ask the readers who this should become and what traits the character should have.
There is no hint as to who it might be. The skin is quite colourful and maybe it has a bearing that the head is a fraction bigger than all the other puppets.
Any suggestions?
This was the first of my postcard series I did 5 years ago. The photograph of the wall of a partially demolished house triggered that project then. Postcards are pretty much a dying breed.
Thinking about it now, it is not too dissimilar to writing a blog. I sent one postcard every week and had to come up with an idea, print it and find some words to go with it. A bit of a slower pace though.
